Would you pay more for extra policing in Essex?

People in Essex are being asked whether they would be prepared to pay more for extra policing.

Roger Hirst, who is the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for the county, holds the purse strings for Essex Police.

And he is asking people to respond to a survey ahead of the annual budget setting, which asks residents whether they would be prepared to pay additional sums on top of the council tax for policing in Essex.

In 2018/19 the Band D payment for policing was £193, which was an increase of £24 a year for the average household.
